More than 4,000 students, campus leaders, and youth ministers from across the nation and as far as South Africa, Mongolia, and the United States came to celebrate the much awaited Campus Harvest Manila 2008. This is a bi-annual conference organized by Every Nation Campus Ministries (ENCM) to equip and train the youth for LIFE (leadership, integrity, faith, and excellence).
This year’s theme challenged students to live LIFE to the full. Invited speakers encouraged student leaders with relevant lessons to overcome trials they face everyday. This theme was also emphasized in videos and onstage interview-type testimonies in timely parts of the conference.
One of the most unforgettable illustrations of this theme was Mark Muleta’s testimony. The fourteen-year-old student, who spoke in a conference setting for the first time, amazed and inspired the delegates with his eloquence and his testimony. He described how he continues to overcome the challenges he faces growing up through the support from his family, the church, and through his relationship with Jesus. His life demonstrates how living life to the full is as he currently mentors five students who help him lead a group of eighty other students who want to live their lives to the full know God more.
The delegates were also treated in engaging activities like the first ever Campus Harvest Battle of the Bands. Students from the University Belt edged out the other bands that joined the contest. Organizers also invited performers from talents inC who rendered several outstanding performances in different parts of the program.
At the end of the three-day conference, ENCM Philippines Executive Director, LA Mumar, summed up the gathering by pointing out that living in Jesus is the only way to ultimately live LIFE to the full. He stressed that no amount of gatherings, or religious activities can equal the life that only Jesus could offer. The applause of students that intently listened all throughout his talk only strengthened the message and purpose of what Campus Harvest Manila is all about.
